OUR RESIN

The resin out of which all Rapture miniatures are made possesses unique properties. To make the handling of this material as easy as possible, we have put together this guide along with our recommendations for you.

Our resin stands out with its notably high flexibility which reliably prevents breakage at thin, fragile points even during a fall. And yet, even with this great bending radius, there is no risk of chipping paint. The material speaks for itself with its remarkably crisp edges and high level of detail. As a matter of course, the resin fulfills all standards and specifications required by EU law.

PROTECTIVE GEAR

Our resin is non-toxic and meets the European Standard for Toy Safety (EN 71). Still, we recommend wearing a filter mask and safety goggles when working with the resin. Especially when filing, sawing, or sanding down, doing so prevents potential injuries or irritations of the respiratory tracts and the mucous membranes.

REMOVING RESIN FLASH

To remove flash/mold lines, we recommend using a sharp cutter knife or scalpel. Due to the high elasticity of the resin, we advise against the use of a file.

GLUING

We recommend the use of superglue gel, which, in our experience, achieves the best results. Using liquid superglue may lead to liquid entering the material and making it more brittle in cases where too much of the glue is applied in one spot. This risk can be minimized by putting a little water-based paint or varnish/lacquer on the spot in question before applying the glue. This prevents the cyanoacrylate in the superglue from seeping into the synthetic material too much.

SUPERGLUE-ACTIVATOR

We strongly advise against the use of superglue/cyanoacrylate activators, since they can damage the material and increase its brittleness.

WASHING

Contrary to common resin miniatures, the manufacturing process of our Rapture miniatures does not use any release agents containing fatty acids. It is therefore not absolutely necessary to thoroughly wash the miniatures before painting. However, to guarantee a clean surface and achieve the best paint results, we still recommend it. This also ensures that any sebum and dust is thoroughly removed.
